Welcome to East Chinnock
Latest News

Road closure of A30 starting 8th May
There will be a Temporary Road Closure of the A30 Fordhay; High Street and Chinnock Hollow to Coker Hill Bridge and Chinnock Hollow.
The road will be closed from 8th May and is expected to last 7 days (excluding weekends) to enable resurfacing works to be carried out.
The diversion route is via West Coker up the Cartgate along the A303 down the A356 to Crewkerne and back along the A30.
Somerset Highways state that the work is scheduled to be carried out 7:00 am - 7:00 pm Monday - Friday so the road should be open overnight and over the weekend.
Residents cannot be prevented from accessing their property; Highways will allow as much access as possible for residents. BUT please allow extra time (say 10 minutes) to get to or from your property and it may not be possible to leave the village in the direction of your choice (it depends on where they are working at the time).
If you have any further queries or need for clarification please contact Somerset Highways on 0845 345 9155

The Queen is coming to East Chinnock Wed 2nd May!!!!

A message from the Parish Clerk about the Royal visit to Somerset

Hi,

Its official! So please tell all your friends and neighbours in the village because we need to get the message out quickly.

Sorry its all been 'secret' until now for security reasons so now the route is confirmed I hope we can all pull together to give The Queen a really warm East Chinnock welcome.

The Queen and Prince Philip will be travelling through our village between 10:25am - 10:40am on their way from Yeovil to Crewkerne (with a rolling road block, so no road closure).

We have been told that the Royal car will SLOW to allow people to see The Queen and Duke.

Plans for the day;
• I have 500 flags for villagers that I will hand out by the Village Hall on the day.
• Ask people along the A30 to please put out flags and red/white/blue on their house fronts.
• Photos & Videos - If you have any good photos or videos, please send them to East.Chinnock@Gmail.com for the website.

This is a once in a life time event for East Chinnock - please spread the word.

Many thanks in anticipation of your support.

Supported by Olympic Gold Medallist Amy Williams, it is worth a look, with its bright and fun image, easy to use content, free give always and useful information. It makes finding where to do sport and physical activity quick and simple.

Amy Williams says, "I hope that the people of Somerset will find this website very beneficial, especially with the monthly challenges. I would not be a world class athlete if I hadn't challenged myself into trying out for the bob skeleton".

The website provides monthly challenges encouraging people to attempt new activities, experience sport and physical activity for the first time, and challenge those more competitive individuals!!

Individuals can log their weekly minutes of physical activity from their homefitness dvd to their 5 mile hike. All minutes count towards the bronze, silver and gold prizes. It’s a great way of motivating people to try new things and provide people with a focus to stay active once they’re started.
This website is a one stop shop for residents of Somerset and health professionals to find all the information they need regarding physical activity and sport in Somerset. From your local zumba class to joining a new team, all information will be on here and updated regularly.
